Group-A
1. Why is it difficult to shoot a fish swimming in water ?
A. It is difficult to shoot a fish swimming in water because what we are seeing in the water is not actual fish but is the apparent image of the fish and changes its position continuously because of swimming.

3. Why the sun appears white during noon hours ?
A. 1) During noon hours, the distance to be travelled by the sun rays in the atomosphere is less than that compared to morning and evening hours.
2) Therefore all colours reach your eye without much scattering. Hence the sun appears white during noon hours.

In the above figure, find the potential at A when the potential at B is zero.
A. From the figure it is clear that.
VA – VB = 2 + 5 x 1 = 7V.
But given VB = 0
=>VA = 7V.

Group – B

                                                                    SECTION – II
9. State the Lenz’s principle.
A. Lenz’s principle : The induced current set up in the coil is in such a direction that it opposes the changes in the flux.
10. What is accommodation of lens ?
A. The ability of eye lens to change its focal length is called accommodation of lens.
11.State Fermat’s principle.
A.Fermat Principle : Light chooses the path which takes the least time to travel.
12. What is Fermentation ?
A.The process of conversion of starches and sugars to C2H5OH is called fermentation process.
13. Write the names of any two ores of iron ?
A. 1) Haematite (Fe2Q3)
2)Magnetite (Fe304)

15. “The rate of rise in temperature depends on the nature of substance.” Explain it with an activity.
A.Procedure :
1) Take a large jar with water and heat it up to 80°C.
2) Take two identical boiling test tubes with single – holed corks.
3) Fill them, one of the boiling tube with 50 gm of water and other with 50 gm. of oil.
4) Insert two thermometers in each of tubes and clamp them to retort stand and place them in a jar of hot water.
ap-ssc-10th-class-general-science-model-paper-2015-16-english-medium-set-5-15jpg_Page1
5) Observe the readings of the thermometers for every 3 minutes.
6) We can observe the rise in temperature of oil is higher than that of water.
7) So, we conclude that rise in temperature depends on the nature of substance.
16. Explain the formation of mirage ?
A.Formation of Mirage :
1. When the light from a tall object such as tree or from the sky passes through a medium just above the road then the refractive index of light decreases towards ground.
2) It undergoes refraction and takes a curved path because of total internal reflection.
ap-ssc-10th-class-general-science-model-paper-2015-16-english-medium-set-5-16jpg_Page1
3) When this light reaches the observer then it appears as if it is reflected from theground.
4) Hence we feel the illusion of water being present on road which is the virtual image of the sky called as mirage.
17. State Ohm’s law. Suggest an experiment to verify it and explain the procedure.
A. Ohm’s Law : The potential difference between the ends of a conductor is directly
proportional to the electric current passing through it at constant temperature.
Aim : To verify Ohm’s law or to show that — = constant.
Material required : 5 dry cells of 1.5V each, conducting wires, an ammeter, a volt meter, thin iron spoke of length 10 cm. LED and key.
ap-ssc-10th-class-general-science-model-paper-2015-16-english-medium-set-5-17.1jpg_Page1
Procedure:
1) Connect a circuit as shown in the above figure.
2) Note the readings of current from ammeter and potential difference from
ap-ssc-10th-class-general-science-model-paper-2015-16-english-medium-set-5-17.2jpg_Page1
3) Now connect 2 cells (in series) instead of one cell in the circuit. Note the values of ammeter and voltmeter and note them in the above table.
4) Repeat the same for 3 cells, 4 cells and 5 cells respectively.
5) Record the values of V and I corresponding to each case in the table.
6) Find V/I for each set of values.
V/I = constant => V/I = R
Therefore, Ohm’s law is verified.
18. Harsha tells Siddhu that the double convex lens behaves like a convergent lens. But Siddhu know that Harsha’s assertion is wrong and corrected Harsha by asking some questions. What are the questions asked by Siddhu ?
A. 1) What happens to the rays when the object kept in between pole and focal point ?
2)Is refractive index of the medium or lens plays any role in this regard ?
3) If the refractive index of medium is greater than that of the lens, then how the lens behaves ?
4) How does the lens behaves if it is kept in water ?
5) How does air bubbles in water behave ?

Group – B                                               ,

22. Explain the cleaning action of soap.
A. 1) Soap has one polar end and one non-polar end as shown in the figure.
2) The polar end is hydrophilic in nature and this end is attracted towards water.
3) The non-polar end is hydrophobic in nature and it is attracted towards grease or oil on the cloth, but not attracted towards water.
4) When soap is dissolved in water, its hydrophobic ends attach themselves to dirt and remove it from the cloth and form a micelle.
5) These micelles remain suspended in water like particles in colloidal solution. The various micelles present in water do not come together to form a precipitate.
6) Thus, the dust particles remain trapped in micelles and are easily rinsed awav with water. Hence soap micelles remove dirt by dissolving it in water.
