The valency of Na is 1 and not 7. Give reason.

    Electronic configuration of Na = 2, 8, 1. It donates 1 electrons and aquire its stable gas configuration. It is easy to donate 1 electron rather than to accept 7 electrons, hence, sodium has a valency of 1 not 7.
