What happens to the metallic character of the elements as we move in a period from left to right in the periodic table? Give reason.
Metallic character of the elements decreases as we move from left to right in a periodic table. Metals loose electrons easily, ifiat is, they are electropositive in nature. On moving left to right in a periodic table
    • Size of the atom decreases.
    • Nuclear charge on the valence shell electrons increases.
    • Number of valence electrons increases.
Hence it becomes difficult to loose the electrons by the elements.
