Ans. Use of fertilisers compensate for replenishing soil nutrients. The nutrients may be depleted by continuous use of the land for growing crops. Thus, to maintain soil fertility the amount or dose of nutrients in the form of chemical fertiliser is necessary. They increase the yield of the crops.
