Give three uses of convex mirrors. Also give reason for these.

    • They are commonly used as rear-view mirrors in the vehicles. The reason is that they form virtual, erect though smaller (diminished) image of the object. They cover a wide field and thus enable the driver to see the traffic behind him without turning his head.

    • They are used as reflectors for streetlight. A convex shaped reflector is put behind the bulb to diverge the light rays over a large area.

    • They are used as vigilance mirrors in big shops and stores to look around for monitoring unguarded areas.
